RISING VR is an holistic learning program. We believe that African-Diaspora are under-represented in the authorship of VR works and we want to cultivate new authorship through our cohort efforts. We also believe that organized remote learning is a powerful channel for eliminating barriers to access resources to learn about emerging technologies. RISING VR programs deliver a hybrid remote learning model to allow for IRL networking and remote collaboration. Our programs provide unambiguous evidence of what is possible and encourage others to pursue VR solutions by drawing on the knowledge of participating artists.

RISING VR will have the ability to empower Afro-Diasporic creators with strategic digital knowledge and capacity in identifying and understanding the challenges, issues and opportunities in creating through virtual reality. Participants solve real-world problems leveraging their own lived experiences and communities to innovate solutions using VR media and business foundations.

RISING VR is the result of collaborative efforts from several Canadian-based collectives and organizations. This program was designed to offer an alternative learning pathway that introduces artists and creators to virtual reality and entrepreneurship.
